Gigabit Networks – the ultrafast fibre champion – is delighted to announce the acquisition of Skyline Wireless – a telecoms and VOIP provider.
The acquisition – for an undisclosed amount – allows Gigabit to provide greater connectivity and internet in areas of the UK that have struggled for bandwidth.
Gigabit is a ‘city champion’ partner of CityFibre, who are transforming Britain’s digital landscape, investing nearly £4Bn to build dense pure fibre networks in more than 60 Cities across the UK.
Skyline is a specialist provider of ‘last mile’ wireless internet connectivity via radio and 4/5G networks, as well as cloud-based services and security products to SME businesses.
Dan Ilett, CEO of Gigabit Networks, which is based in Leicester, said: “We’re delighted Skyline is joining the Gigabit family. The pandemic has created massive demand for faster and better-quality connectivity. We can now not only make central city businesses faster, but more rural areas too.”
David Yates, CEO of 4 Oceans Venture Capital, a key investor in Gigabit Networks, added: “The Midlands is one of the most exciting places in the UK to do business right now as the connectivity potential is huge. Most people in the Midlands haven’t realised the potential speeds and technology that are now available to them. Together Gigabit and Skyline will change that.”
With more than 40 years’ experience in telecommunications, Gigabit’s mission is to power up the capabilities of businesses in the Midlands and to shine a light on their talents.
According to them, standard broadband relies on ageing copper connections, which can often be slow. Their pure fibre service, which is being delivered across the Midlands, overcomes these limitations to deliver a considerably improved service. Superior internet will provide 1Gbps internet speeds, removing limits to communication and improving productivity.
Services provided by Suffollk-based Skyline include Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) – part of a global industry trend towards cloud services, also known as digital transformation – and Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) – a technology that allows you to make voice calls using a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular phone line.
CityFibre is investing in dense full-fibre networks to create ‘Gigabit Cities’ across the UK, including Leicester, Nottingham, Cambridge, Peterborough, Coventry and Derby.
